Project Laman Bestari

  • Laman Bestari is located in front of the UNISEL area next to Jalan Utama from Bukit Tagar towards Tanjung Karang and has an area of 60 acres. The original condition of this area is an abandoned place filled with wild bushes and gives a bad image to UNISEL. This open vacant land area was developed as a lake to accommodate the reservoir and planned a development to be carried out in order to give a new image to UNISEL.
  • The implementation of the work was started from 2018 by creating Lake A and Lake B to accommodate the overflow of water and to accommodate stagnant water especially during the monsoon season. A lake that was created was planned to be used as a fish sanctuary, recreational purposes, sport fishing, drone flights and so on.
  • Several areas at Laman Bestari have also been developed by planting shade trees and creating a Herb Garden, Hibiscus Park, Kampus Dalam Dusun and I Love UNISEL Lake. The planting of shade trees such as sena trees as many as 80 trees in Laman Bestari lakeside and 25 tembusu trees in Taman Herba has been implemented in phases from 2021 until now.
  • Other than that, Palma@Elaeis also being develop in Laman Bestari which now has 93 palm trees that been planted in several areas within Laman Bestari. All these palm trees was donated by Unisel people and some individuals in order to make this project a success.
  • Oil palm trees were chosen as the landscape at Laman Bestari due to the tree’s hardy nature despite being submerged in water reservoirs for more than a week. In addition, oil palm trees are also easy to maintain and do not require regular watering.
  • The tree planting is divided into two phases where the first phase of 63 trees was planted on 25 January 2022. While for the second phase, 30 trees were planted on 20 July 2022.
