Planting of Senna Trees

Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) remains committed to environmental conservation efforts with the initiative to plant 40 Senna trees (Senna Siamea) in several hotspots around the Bird Sanctuary Lake located within the campus. This step is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enrich the local ecosystem and create a greener, more eco-friendly environment.

Several hotspots identified for the planting of Senna trees include zones that are more susceptible to ecosystem damage due to human activities and natural phenomena. Key areas of focus are along the lake’s banks, bird landing areas, and various recreational pathways frequently visited by campus residents and outside visitors.

This tree planting is expected to enhance the biodiversity of the lake area by providing more habitats and food sources for bird species that make this lake their home. Additionally, this initiative can also contribute to reducing air pollution through carbon dioxide absorption, thereby making the area healthier for all living things.
